Circle of Friends

Circle of Friends

A Circle of Friends: Celebrating Life began with Lisa Williams' desire to give back to women who had stood in the gap for her. Nine years ago, on the occasion of her birthday, September 12th, a group of 23 women gathered at Lisa's home, not totally sure of what to expect. No one had ever heard of a birthday party where the honoree "gave" individual gifts to everyone instead of receiving them! Each woman who came was asked to bring a good attitude, a friend, a pair of slippers, and no gifts for Lisa, but a gift to bless a woman in a shelter or transitional home. Once Lisa shared the vision of what God had placed on her heart, all who gathered quickly realized, "it's not about me, but about Christ who lives in me." (Eph. 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.")
The seed was planted for the Circle that evening. Today, the Circle has widened to include twelve states, Mexico and Africa. God has truly used our Circle to heal brokenness, mend relationships, restore souls, and bring families to Christ and minister to people with spiritual, financial and social needs.
The women in the Circle are of all ethnic and racial backgrounds, some are homeless and others are of substantial means. We are young and we are old, we are working professionals and stay-at-home moms, entrepreneurs and recent college grads still looking for the right job! The common denominator is that our heart is truly to serve and draw closer to Christ Jesus, living authentic lives that glorify Him. We are committed to caring, challenging and changing the lives of other women through the knowledge of God and the practical application of meeting the needs wherever they are.
Presently, there is a tremendous need to address human trafficking and the modern-day slavery of young girls for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE). Circle of Friends is committed to providing safe refuge, care and treatment for girls 12-17 who have been brutalized by CSE. We are raising funds to open a residential program, Living Water for Girls, in 2008. We encourage you to learn more about human trafficking and CSE. Please join us in our commitment to end human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of young girls.
